The short explanation of this alert was:

Governor Gregoire is in her office writing the state budget right now! Her advisors have told her that some early learning programs aren't worth saving in these tight budget times. But kids aren't going to wait until after the recession to grow up. Birth to five are the crucial learning years. If we let kids go without the early learning support they need, we can't ever get these years back. 

Please tell the Governor that cutting early learning funds now is foolish. We'll pay later in both lost potential and real dollars - and later is just around the corner.
