Dear Children's Action Network member,

Have a Heart for Kids Day is just four weeks away! If you've come before, you know it's inspiring and empowering to be in Olympia, learning about the issues, connecting with other advocates, and meeting with leaders. If you've never come, this is the year to start. There has never been a more crucial time to be a voice for kids.

This is our annual advocacy day at the state Capitol in Olympia. It’s the largest gathering of child advocates during the legislative session. We welcome parents, youth, and groups from partner organizations. Bring your family, your friends and your co-workers. February 15th is a holiday, and schools are closed, kids are welcome!

Have a Heart for Kids Day features:

  • Advocates for children from all corners of the state, with over 400 advocates in recent years.
  • Issue briefing and new advocate training session
  • Opportunities to meet with legislators
  • New this year - we're joining a larger rally calling for a balanced approach to the state's economic crisis - including new revenue

Our state’s children face a cruel reality. Just when families and children are in greatest need, state resources to meet those needs are dramatically reduced. Programs kids and families count on are at risk of more deep cuts, including Working Connections Child Care, Basic Health, maternity support, health clinics, the list literally goes on and on.

Join us at Have a Heart for Kids Day to ask your legislators and the Governor to protect kids in these tough times, and take the smart, compassionate, balanced approach to the economic crisis.

Sign up now and by passing this message on to your family friends and colleagues.
